![]() In summary, they built upon the existing fanbase of WarioLand and the initial hype from those players upon release of the game caught the attention of players unfamiliar with WarioLand or Pizza Tower. Similar to how you're asking right now: you're interested in why all these WarioLand players are so happy about this game, and now you might buy it, which just makes the snowball bigger. You'd be super excited! You'd tell your friends! Anyone who played WarioLand 4 was very interested in picking up this game, which caught everyone else's interest who never heard of WarioLand 4. Imagine if your favorite game from your childhood never had any sequels, and you find out that some studio made a spiritual successor to that game, and everyone's review of the game is overwhelmingly positive. (Essentially tapping into a preexisting fanbase of almost 1 million players) While I'm not an expert on Pizza Tower, it seems they got their initial following by branding itself as heavily-influenced by WarioLand 4, which was a well received game and sold almost 1 million copies in its first year. But I think this explains why it has hardly any sales compared to Pizza Tower. It might be a great game! Again, personally, I am into these games because of nostalgia. 8 bit adventures isn't trying to be unique or doing anything new - it just looks like a very polished version of what has been done hundreds of times before. Pizza Tower taps into Wario Land nostalgia a little, but importantly, it has its own very unique identity and gameplay, and is ultimately a very modern game. Or at the least, it was at the time it first released. Pizza Tower, and every other very successful game - indie or not - is a one of a kind experience. Long story short: 8bit adventures 2 is not a one of a kind experience. Or one of the spiritual (or even direct) successors of the 8bit JRPG classics. ![]() And even if you do, why would I play this when I could replay one of the classics from back then. Unless you have nostalgia for these games, there is 0 reason to play them. ![]() However, it is a turn based RPG with retro graphics. It looks very polished, and I personally have a thing for games of this era. ![]() I can only go by what I see in the trailer. ![]()
